I LOVE HUMANITY

“A searing and powerful account of a Pakistani in New York after 9/11.” So writes Mira Nair, the director of the political thriller drama film, The Reluctant Fundamentalist, based on the novel with the same name by veteran Pakistan novelist Mohsin Hamid , the writer of the famous novel Moth Smoke. It is the second novel by the author. It is credited with the New York Times best selling novel and the Man Booker,the leading literary award, shortlisted novel. The novel is a monologue addressed by Changez, the protagonist, to an unnamed American. An unnamed American feels uneasy with the talk of a bearded Pakistani in the city of Lahore. He feels uneasy and feared as America was at war with the Islamic forces after twin tower attack sensing the fear of the visitor young man, the narrator in the novel soothes him by saying not to worry about his long beard and consider him his friend.
The protagonist of the novel is newly graduate from Princeton New Yorker working as the financial assistant with a large firm as the financial assistant.
Being a pardox in the title the novel centers around a Pakistani born boy who keep on living an American life.
Being allegorical in form the novel rests upon the love story of the Erica, an American girl of elite and a Pakistani born immigrant, Changez, the protagonist. The relationship witnesses many upheavals and the match proves to be inappropriate owning to the backgrounds. Erica can’t get rid of her boyfriend, Chris who dies and can not offer her body completely to Changez. When she sees that she cannot open up with Changez asks him to pretend to be Chris and she imagines him to be Chris and makes love. Erica stands for America and Changez for an immigrant. America doesn’t accept the immigrant as his original identity but only accepts when he adopts the American way of life. Sensing no way out he becomes Chris, who symbolizes an American man, he shares intimate acts with Erica. Despite being a greater bond of love and care between Eric and Channgez their bond remains unfulfilled throughout the novel and they have to part their ways.
Changez experiences a paradoxical relationship with America. He feels exalted and elated at being an American with the graduation from Princeton and takes massive pride in being a New Yorker and enjoying an enviable social status having a girl friend belonging the elite of the society. Paradoxically he equally yearns for his life in Pakistan. He feels misfit in the society as he is not received by his beloved the way he is and he has to conceal his very ideology and act as Chris to satiate the needs of Erica. He laments over being available to America which already teems with the affluence of talent and leaves his own country, motherland, which direly needs talents like his own. This feelings leaves him frustrated.
Apparently being an American and adopting the American ways of life the protagonist can not get his hidden hate for America for whom he has sacrificed very identity of his own, out and feels happy and smiles when he watches twin tower attack abroad in TV and when man keeps such ideas for America the Amrican attitude towards Muslims post attacks to some extent can be justified.
Twin Tower attack has proufounf influence on the plot of the novel, Erica who symbolizes America is over occupied by mental illness after the attack and slowly fades away from the life of Changez. He feels unseen pleasure over the idea of someone bringing America to the downfall. He keeps on his beard and settles permenantly in Pakistan ends up teaching in the university advocating Pakistan cut his ties with America.
The novel shows that how a man who has never been religious in his life turns to be religious post twin tower attacks.
Some of the critics put it that the novel is an attempt to justify the fundamentalism. It highlights that how an individual who has never been a hardcore religious man feels elated during the time when the America needed the sympathy the most. On the contrary it shows very beautifully post 9/11 treatment with Muslims in America. It paints how the Muslims in America who deemed America their dream country and have sacrificed their service for their native lands and put in all their energies for the development of America are put in hot waters and their loyalties questioned and maltreated in every walk of American life. The novel shows how the Muslims in America became the target of legitimate hatred which didn’t end at all.

Being a monologue based upon the technique of the dramatic monologue we know more about the life of the narrator and very less about the listener. Not only we know about the life of the narrator but also the emotional state the narrator had been in and the incident that surrounded the American ambiance pre and post attacks. Mistrust and tension keep their permanent stay through out the narration. The novel is narrative in tone and narration is so well knit that it neither digresses the reader nor does it make reader feel bored. The novelist has succeeded in maintain the curiosity from the beginning to the end. The sense of what next prevails throughout the novel.
The novel contains the limited characters and is in the conversational tone with the simple diction.
Splendid style coupled with simple diction, artistic presentation of the event, narrative style with conversational tone and universal theme make novel a must read for the enthusiasts of the literature in general and novel in particular.

The day was sunday, 11th march 2018, that evening gathered with friends as usual for a tea, luckily Aftab Ali had arrived Multan on that day after a long time, so that tea was more tasteful with him. We were four friends at that time on table Aftab, FahIm, Shaban & me. While talking I suggest we have arranged many events in Multan why not in Sindh? as in Karachi, Hyderabad & Khairpur, literature festivals are organized by students, we should organize a festival in Ghotki where there is feudalism & illeteracy at peak, Ghotki is the grandmother of patroons and the feudal lords. They ignored, said that could only happen in dreams. I replied, Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world, the future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.
The name were suggested for a festival was G'FEST. After, we deliberate about different segments for a festival and myself started a paper work with Shaban and Fahim on Monday, 12th March 2018 at 11:00 PM. After 2 weeks Sufian Majeed joined us. The most energetic team member.
Day by day we worked hard, met with different persons of Ghotki. Faced many difficulties, endured rude and discouraging behaviour. As you know a dream doesn't become reality through magic, it takes sweat, determination and hard work. Where there are discouraging persons there also encouraging persons for betterment of society. 1st meeting with Engr Mohammad Moosa & 2nd meeting with Raufparas Dayo encouraged and give us a direction for a successful festival and a big support from Rais Abid Hussain Siyal at every moment make our incentives high. Allah Warayo Bozdar a struggler and voice of Ghotki people, his struggle and support for entire festival is unforgettable, Jam Fatah Samejo renowned personality, his encouragement take our steps forward to sucess of festival, Sikandar Ogahias a helping hand in entire festival, Engineer Moosa khoso his suggestions and help in meeting with different personalities of Mirpur Mathelo were plus points for us.
With the help of these persons finally we were succeed in arranging a Mega Festival in feudalistic district.
Abbas Baloch, Abdul Waheed Mahar, Rehan Ali Balouch and Imran Khan SooMro they were pillars for us, their struggles helped us for arranging such a big event.

When all imaginations, purposes, future goals destroyed, when get disabilities from everywhere, in every work, getting bad luck in every work even every thing sorroundings to you indicate you have shutdown your goals feels like nothing remained your sorroundings, being a failure you have got nothing, thought something vanishing you but yourself theft all purspectives, one thing you should get, time told no one is yours in your bad times, reasons for bad luck you will not catch what the hell is going with your time. Thinking to shutdown yourself so may be im joking accordance your outlook, but reasoning these motives you consider responsible yourself. You think you wasn't like that failure, you never thought your mind would be thinking in future like these stupid ideas which are against humanism but this cruel world and failure life make you impotent to think about them. Your frustation start when you were being start to mature, may be God wrote these lack of successes as a ladder for your success but you thought you didnt think so beacause unsuccess was being continuously in your neck. You never got some success at some points but was just unsuccess.

حقیقت کیا ہے 

کیا سندھ میں آج کل جو ہندوں لڑکیاں مسلمان ہورہی ہیں وہ واقع اسلام سے متاثر ہوئی ہیں یا پھر ان کا زبردستی مذہب تبدیل کروایا گيا ؟

میں ان سب لوگوں سے متفق ہوں جو زبردستی مذہب تبدیلی کے خلاف ہیں 

لیکن آج کل جو کیسز سامنے آرہے یا پھر جو ماضی میں ہوئے ان کیسز میں وہ سب لڑکیاں اسلام سے متاثر ہوئی یے کہنا بلکل غلط ہوگا دراصل ان کیسز میں سے کجھ ایسے کیسز تھے جو پیار حاصل کرنے کی وجہ بنے وہ لڑکیاں اسلام سے متاثر نہیں ہوئی بلکے اپنا پیار حاصل کرنے کے لیے مذہب تبدیل کیا جو ان کی مجبوری تھی لیکن صرف لڑکیاں ہی کیوں مسلمان ہوتی ہیں لڑکے کیوں نہیں اس کی ایک خاص وجہ ہے ہمارے معاشرے میں خاص کر کہ سندہ کے دیہی علائقوں میں جتنی آزادی ہندو ماں باپ اپنی بیٹی کو دیتے ہیں اتنی ایک مسلم نہیں دے سکتا سواۓ چند ایسے خاندان ہوں اگر ایک مسلم لڑکی کسی مسلم کو آنکھ اٹھا کر دیکھے تو اسے برا بھلا کہ کر اس پر تشدد کیا جاتا ہے  یا پھر کاری کر کے مارا جاتا ہے اس معاشرے کی مسلم لڑکیاں کسی ہندو سے پیار کرنا دور کی بات ہے وہ کسی مسلم سے بھی اپنے پسند کی شادی نہیں کر سکتی ہاں یے بات الگ ہے کہ آجکل کجھ نہ کجھ شعور آگيا ہے لیکن اس حد تک نہیں بس یہی خاص وجہ ہے جو ہم کہہ سکتے ہیں اس کی وجہ سے کوئی مسلم لڑکی کسی ہندو سے تعلق نہیں رکھ سکتی 

یے بات سچ ہے جو پیار کرتے ہیں ان کا کوئی مذہب نہیں ہوتا لیکن ہاں اس معاشرے میں اگر ان کو ساتھ رہنا تو ظاہر سی بات ہے لڑکی کو ہی قربانی دینی ہوگی کیوں کہ اگر لڑکا مسلم سے ہندو ہوا تو اس انجام کیا ہوگا وہ ہم سب جانتےہیں اس خراب معاشرے اور ایسے نظام کی وجہ سے ایسے واقعات ہوتے ہیں

رنکل کماری اور آرتی کماری کا ہی کیس دیکھ لیں آج رنکل کماری اپنے شوہر اور بچوں کے ساتھ بہت اچھی زندگی گزار رہی ہے یہاں تک اپنے والدین کے پاس بھی جاتی رہتی ہے اور اب ڈگری کالیج میرپور ماتھیلو سے ایم ای کی ڈگری بھی کر رہی ہے اسی طرح آرتی بھی اپنی اچھی زندگی گزار رہی ہےآرتی ایک پڑہی لکھی لڑکی تھی جس نے اپنی مرضی سے اسی اسکول کے ٹیچر سے  شادی کی جہاں وہ خود ٹیچر تھیں

  اور اک اہم بات ہم میں سے کجھ ایسے لوگ بھی ہوتے ہیں جو ان باتوں کو بڑہا چڑہا کر پیش کرتے ہیں جس وجہ سے اکلیتیں یے محصوص کرنے لگتی ہیں کہ ان کو حقوق نہیں دیے جاتے وہ الگ بات ہے ہمارے ہاں اکثریت کا بھی یہی حال ہے- یہاں بات مذہب تبدیلی کی نہیں بلکہ بات محبت کی ہے یے بات وہ لوگ کیوں نہیں سمجھتے جو خود کو محبت اور انسان پرست سمجھتے ہیں اور ایسے واقعات پر واویلا کرتے رہتے ہیں کیا محبت کو حاصل کرنے کے لیے مذہب تبدیل کرنا غلط ہےیا تو وہ لوگ ان کو وہ راستہ بتائیں  جس سے وہ لوگ ایک ہوجائيں  اور اچھی زندگی گزاریں یا پھر خود کو انسانیت اور محبت کا پہلوکار کہلانا چہوڑ دیں -  

ہم سب جانتے ہیں ہمارے سندہ میں ہم ہندو بھائیوں کے ساتھ کیسے پیش آتے ہیں سندہ شروع سے لیکر ابھی تک صوفیئزم کی دھرتی رہی ہے ہم انسانیت کے پہلوکار ہیں  لیکن کجھ لوگ باتوں کو بڑہا چڑہا کر پیش کر کے ہم سب ميں نفرت پیدا کرنا چاہتے ہیں 

سندھی ہندوں کو یے بات ذہن میں رکھنی چاہیے کہ یے سندہ انکی دھرتی ہے ان کو ایسے مسائل کو خود حل کرنا چاہیئے کیونکہ وہ ہی اس سندھ کے حقیقی مالک ہیں لیکن جو لوگ ان کے ہمدرد بننے کی کوشش کر رہے ہیں وہ ہی اکلیت اور اکثریت میں فساد کی جڑ ہیں حیرانی کی بات یے ہے کہ ایسے لوگ خود کو انسانیت کا ہمدرد سمجھ کر بس ایسے مواقع کی تلاش میں رہتے ہیں

 ہر معاشرے میں ایسے واقعات ہوتے رہتے ہیں اسکو ہر پہلو کے ساتھ دیکھنا چاہییے نہ کی کوئی خبر سوشل میڈیا پر دیکھ کر واویلا کرنا چاہیےاگر کسی ہندو کے ساتھ زیادتی ہوتی ہے اسکا زبردستی مذہب تبدیل کیا جاتا ہے تو اسلام ایسے کام کی اجازت بلکل نہیں دیتا اور ایسا کام کرنے والوں کے خلاف سخت کاوائی کی جائے جو تحقیقی ہو جیسے کسی کہ ساتھ ناانصافی نہ ہو سکے-
